MS-Components pop-top roof – the roof system matters

When choosing the correct Sleeping Board for a campervan with a pop-top roof, the base vehicle alone is not enough. One of the most important factors is the roof system actually installed on the vehicle.

MS-Components pop-top roofs are used on different vehicles and by different campervan converters. This is why we have deliberately organised this collection around the roof manufacturer rather than a particular vehicle or converter.

If you know which roof system is fitted to your campervan, you can select the Sleeping Board developed for that configuration.

Sleeping Boards for MS-Components pop-top roofs

The 50°Nord Sleeping Boards for MS-Components pop-top roofs complement the upper sleeping area of your campervan.

Our Sleeping Boards are developed to match the individual roof construction. Rather than looking only at the base vehicle, we take the geometry and installation of the pop-top sleeping roof into account.

A Sleeping Board is therefore not automatically tied to one particular campervan converter. The important factor is that the vehicle and MS-Components roof correspond to the configuration specified for the individual product.

Which vehicles use MS-Components pop-top roofs?

MS-Components pop-top roofs are used on a range of campervans and individual conversions.

These include conversions based on the VW T5, T6 and T6.1, as well as current vehicles such as the Ford Transit/Tourneo Custom and VW New Transporter.

Another important group is the Pössl Campster and Vanster. The Vanster uses an MS-Components roof across its model range. For the Campster, the model year is particularly important: vehicles up to model year 2024 use the SCA 262 roof, while the Campster from model year 2025 uses an MS-Components roof.

This is a good example of why the vehicle name alone is not sufficient when choosing a Sleeping Board. The vehicle, model year and roof system actually installed must be considered together.

MS-Components roof on Campster and Vanster

The Pössl Campster and Vanster are compact campervans where identifying the correct pop-top roof is particularly important.

For the Pössl Vanster, the corresponding MS-Components roof is the basis for choosing the appropriate 50°Nord Sleeping Board.

For the Pössl Campster, however, the model year must be taken into account:

Campster up to model year 2024: SCA 262 pop-top roof
Campster from model year 2025: MS-Components pop-top roof

For a Campster up to model year 2024, you should therefore look at our Sleeping Board solution for the SCA 262. For vehicles from model year 2025, the corresponding MS-Components Sleeping Board solution is relevant.

Different pop-top roofs on the same base vehicle

The same base vehicle can be fitted with pop-top roofs from different manufacturers.

Two campervans that look very similar may therefore have different roof constructions and require different Sleeping Boards.

A vehicle with an SCA, REIMO or Polimer roof, for example, requires a different Sleeping Board solution from a corresponding vehicle fitted with an MS-Components roof.

When choosing your Sleeping Board, you should therefore identify the manufacturer and version of your pop-top roof first.

MS-Components roofs on VW T5, T6 and T6.1

VW T5, T6 and T6.1 vehicles have been converted into campervans by numerous manufacturers and specialist converters.

Some of these vehicles are fitted with MS-Components pop-top roofs.

For our roof-specific classification, the name of the converter is not the main factor. The important combination is the vehicle, installed roof and specific roof configuration.

Our general VW T5, T6 and T6.1 collection remains the place to find vehicle-specific campervan accessories, while this collection focuses specifically on MS-Components roof solutions.

Check modifications made by the campervan converter

Even with a roof from the same manufacturer, the actual installation inside the vehicle can differ.

Campervan converters may add or modify bed frames, lighting, trim or other components.

In addition to the roof manufacturer, always check the vehicle, model year, roof version and installation information provided for the individual Sleeping Board.

Sleeping in a campervan with an MS-Components pop-top roof

A pop-top roof creates an additional sleeping area above the main vehicle interior, providing extra sleeping space without permanently occupying the living area below.

The matching 50°Nord Sleeping Board complements this upper sleeping area and is developed for the corresponding roof construction.

The correct Sleeping Board therefore depends primarily on the roof solution actually installed.

Camper Shower as a flexible addition

Alongside the roof-specific Sleeping Boards, this collection also includes the 50°Nord Camper Shower.

It creates a protected shower space inside the vehicle when required, without permanently occupying valuable interior space with a fixed shower compartment.

After use, the shower can be removed, dried, rolled up and stored compactly.

It therefore complements the Sleeping Board with another flexible solution for campervans and individual conversions.

Roof system rather than vehicle make

This collection deliberately takes a different approach from our vehicle-specific categories.

In those collections, you start with your VW T5, T6, T6.1, Ford Custom, VW New Transporter or another campervan and find compatible accessories.

Here, the MS-Components pop-top roof installed on the vehicle is the starting point.

This allows campervans from different converters to use the same 50°Nord solution when the roof construction and other compatibility requirements match.

First check that your campervan is actually fitted with an MS-Components pop-top roof.

Then compare the vehicle, model year, roof version and any modifications made by the campervan converter with the information provided for the individual 50°Nord Sleeping Board.
